Owner, Supervising Broker
JD Hewitt is a native of South Dakota, raised on a ranch in the west-central SD. He attended South Dakota State University, earning an Associate Degree in Ag Studies with an emphasis in economics. After returning to the ranch for a time, he began a career in the banking industry while continuing in livestock production. Upon leaving the banking industry in 1991, he and his family leased and operated ranches in MT, WY, and SD. In 1999, JD and his wife Julie (who also holds an active license) purchased a 2/3rd interest in Walt Simons Real Estate in Sturgis, SD, and began operating Hewitt & Simons Realty. Upon Simons’ retirement in 2004, they assumed full ownership. JD and Julie continue to operate the business, with the addition of their sons, Tyson and Tanner Hewitt, and business associate Dan Todd. Hewitt Land Company strives to provide the highest quality service available in the real estate business. They take great care to serve with honesty and integrity to facilitate deals where everyone wins.

Tyson Hewitt was raised on a ranch in south eastern Montana and graduated from Sunshine Bible Academy. He attended Chadron State College, Chadron, NE. In 2005, Tyson received his real estate license and joined the company. Tyson enjoys meeting people, seeing different places, and learning the various methods operators have used in developing their own businesses. Tyson and his wife Shiloh are also actively engaged in their own ranching operation in Mud Butte, SD. They have five daughters and enjoy watching them become more engaged and capable on their horses doing cattle work. They feel it a great blessing to be able to ranch together as a family, all the while surrounded by good friends and neighbors.

Tanner Hewitt grew up on the ranch in south eastern Montana and later graduated from high school at Sunshine Bible Academy. He attended Sheridan Community College, Sheridan, WY, and spent four years as cattle foreman for a ranch in Big Horn, WY. In 2014, he attended Western College of Auctioneering School and obtained his SD real estate license. Since then, he and his wife Lacey have moved to Whitewood, SD, where he joined Hewitt Land Company full time. Tanner’s work pursuit is in the auction industry, both in livestock and real estate. Tanner, Lacey, and their two children spend a great deal of time with family, and enjoy going to ropings and amateur rodeos. They feel blessed to live and raise their children in an agricultural area.
Daniel J. (Dan) Todd

Dan Todd is a native of Sully County (Onida) South Dakota, grew up in a large farm and ranch family, and is still connected and invested in the farm, ranch and real estate industry in South Dakota. Dan obtained an undergraduate degree and a law degree from USD in Vermillion South Dakota, was a deputy sheriff in South Dakota and Colorado, the States Attorney in Walworth County South Dakota, and recently retired from his position in Pierre, South Dakota as Special Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Division of Legal Services within the Department of Social Services. Dan has been involved in criminal and civil litigation; has assisted families with wills, trusts and probates; and has experience in representing clients in real estate transactions. Dan brings objectivity and legal expertise to Hewitt Land Company. Dan also continues to practice law through a private law office in Pierre South Dakota.

Audra Anderson grew up on the ranch in southeastern Montana until the age of 8, at which time the family moved to the farm in western South Dakota. After graduating high school from Sunshine Bible Academy, she attended Sheridan Community College in Sheridan, WY. Audra has worked in several different avenues of real estate such as a bank, a title company and the FSA so she understands the different facets of a working operation and the real estate process. She is happy to officially join the family business as the executive administrator. Audra and her husband Keith reside in Belle Fourche, SD where they raise their three children, run their business and are a part of the Black Hills Roundup. They are proud to live in rural South Dakota and to raise their kids with work ethic and integrity.
