Horman Grassland

The Horman Grassland is a very usable piece lying approximately 14 miles north of Belle Fourche South Dakota. This 250 deeded acre pasture has outstanding access as it borders both SD Highway 85 and Brooker Road for over ¾ of a mile each! There is a drainage running through the property that occasionally runs water in the spring or after heavy rains however, the main water source is a man-made dugout which sits on the south end of the property. The property was enrolled in 2023 in a NRCS grazing program that returns $13/acre annually. Horman Grassland is located 14 miles north of Belle Fourche, SD in Butte County. The population of Belle Fourche is approximately 5,500 and is a hub for the farming and ranching community which is the main industry of the county. The region boasts a wide arrangement of crop growth possibilities creating a formidable environment for raising livestock. Belle Fourche is located 55 miles northwest of Rapid City, the second largest city in South Dakota and offers all types of shopping, fine and casual dining, medical facilities, and industry. Regional flight service is available at the Rapid City Regional Airport as well as a Municipal airport in Belle Fourche. The Black Hills, which lie just south of the property offers and inviting mix of recreational and cultural experiences such as, Mount Rushmore, natural hot springs, fossil hunting, hiking, biking and rock climbing, skiing and snowmobiling as well as superior hunting and fishing.

The property is gently rolling native prairie.

Epsie shale and Epsie clay are the predominant soil types on the property.

Natural runoff is captured in a well positioned dugout on the property.

Direct access from Highway 85 and off of Brooker Road (County maintained gravel road).

Livestock grazing has been utilized during the growing season.

Power is provided to the area by Butte Electric.

Wildlife

Antelope, mule deer, whitetail deer, grouse, turkey, bobcat, coyote might be seen on the property.
